5 months old!

It's been a busy month here! Lots going on! The biggest thing is that Maddy and Matt went on a weekend trip to see Grandma and Grandpa! Matt and Maddy made a lot of use out of the pool and really enjoyed their time. They also went to the beach which Maddy absolutely adored. She was asleep on the way home in the van! They had a blast! Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for the company and welcoming them into your home! (A three year old is not always easy!)

We also put in a deck and fence this month, too! They both look fabulous! It was a long week of pounding when it came to the deck... but it was well worth it and it looks fabulous! Matt actually just took off the hand rail tops last night and is in the process of putting on ambient lighting and it looks great, too. He'll be finished tonight. He would have been done last night if we hadn't ran out of light! Also looks wonderful.

This Friday we have sprinkler guys coming out to install a sprinkler system in the front yard and fix the backyard. We started the backyard but got in over our heads so we're having someone come to finish them up. That's ok though, at least it's getting done!

The next project after that (after we wait a bit for our budget to catch up with us) is installing something under the deck. We are unsure if it will be pavers or molded rubber blocks (the kind you see at playgrounds). But we are North facing in the back so we don't get much sun. And with the deck there the grass that we do have under the deck will quickly turn to weeds (aka poison ivy) and dirt if we don't do anything about it fairly quickly. Pavers are definitely less expensive, but the rubber blocks would be great for the kids as I see that being a prime place for Maddy's outdoor house, slide, basketball hoop, etc. We'll see what we decide on. I definitely want it to happen before winter though, or before we start seeing big weeds/mud. Whatever comes first. :)

Adrian is 5 months old today! I can't believe it!! He really is such a sweet boy. He LOVES to eat! He loved oatmeal and loves fruits and veggies a ton. He just chows down. Food wise, he is so much easier than Maddy was. However, Maddy still wins on the sleep issue. She slept through the night at 5 weeks! Adrian is still up 2 times a night to feed. And then he'll often wake up because he'll lose his pacifier or be uncomfortable so we spend a lot of time up and down at night.

Needless to say, that's killing my early morning workout routine. I am having an impossible time getting out of bed at 6. As it is, I've been having a hard time getting out of bed by 6:30! Often times Matt is seriously the husband of the year and lets me sleep in while he gets up with the kids. It's been kinda hard. I'm waiting for this kiddo to sleep through the night or at least go down to one feeding at night! Hopefully soon!

Maddy is doing great! I can't believe in less than a month she'll be in preschool 3 mornings a week. Yikes that is so quick! She's really ready for it though. Just in the last month she's been enjoying 'writing' and loves to draw pictures now, too. Setting up an art station was a great idea if I do say so myself. (Patting myself on the back.) She spends a lot of her day there just doodling around.

Ok, well, I wanted to check in! After all, it's been a full month! I wonder if anyone even reads this thing anymore now that I've been updating so infrequently? Well, I will try to write more often anyway.

Summer cold

So Maddy has a summer cold. I caught a bit of it. I think summer colds are so much worse than winter colds. In winter we can cover up and snuggle under a blanket and drink hot soup. Who wants to do that in summer?? Not me. So I put in a movie (Muppet's Movie) and we've been hanging out this morning. I wound up getting a bit of it, too. Add in that I've had insomnia and it hasn't helped a thing. Fortunately, I DID get good sleep last night!!

Ok, well, the movie is over! Off to bigger and better things--like trying to figure out what's for lunch. :)

The queen is missing her crown..

Oh wait, that's the one in my mouth, not on my head. ;-) Yep, it fell out on Saturday. Went to the dentist this morning and we're checking insurance stuff to see if it will be covered or not. Or what a different possible fix could be. Anyway, annoying to say the least!

Adrian caught a bit of our colds. But he's not (almost wrote snot) so bad. Not overly affecting his sleep, so I can't complain! He had his 5 months shots yesterday and did well with them. I'm splitting up the shots into monthly visits, which is a pain, but worth it in the long run.

Maddy has been loving her trips the library to pick out books. She sleeps with books at night and can't get enough of writing and drawing pictures. I'm so glad--just in time for preschool! She really does love to read!

Our sprinkler system thing is FINALLY finished. The grass seed was put down yesterday am along with the dirt. So once that starts growing we'll have a back yard we can use again. I'm waiting impatiently for it! Maddy wants to play in her sandbox which is stuck in the backyard. But we have the deck, so that helps a lot. Although, if a ball goes over the side, it's stuck there for a few weeks so we need to be extra careful right now!

We did find furniture for the deck, however, we haven't received any word yet about delivery. It also hasn't been charged yet but the order hasn't been canceled. Just waiting to hear what's going on with that. It's ok that we don't have it yet, since I don't know where we'd put Maddy's toys (slide, pool) and furniture. Right now we have room on the deck for the former.

Ok, off to get a couple things done! Maddy should be up in 10 minutes!
