Sitting down for a quick minute

I've been in full spring cleaning mode here! I've sorted through all of Maddy's old stored clothes and am in the process of finding homes for the majority of it. I resorted out Adrian's drawers since he's out of his 0-3 stuff now. I packed up all my maternity clothes and have found a home for that. I went through Maddy's toys and packed away a few big ones she no longer plays with and reorganized the playroom a bit. I would like to go through her small toys, but that won't happen until Matt can take her outside to play or something like that while I sort. It's too hard to do with her around.

Adrian has been sleeping pretty well lately--9pm to 4 pm-ish. I'm thrilled for that! Maddy has been sleeping through the night as well, which is usual, but definitely noteworthy! So we are getting some better sleep given we go to bed at a decent hour.

The weight watchers thing has been hard for me lately, but I've been on track for the last week and it's paying off. I still have quite a bit of weight to lose as is shown by both the scale and trying to fit into my skinny jeans (now THAT is just depressing!), but I'll get there. I need to find a way to fit in working out. I had been taking long fast walks with both kids in the stroller which works nice since I have to push them around (and that's not light). But, with VA summer rolling in I'm not sure I can get us out the door early enough in the morning to workout and not kill myself in the heat. I really want to buy a new elliptical and it is in the plans, but I want to make sure I have the ability to use it if we get it. And right now, I'm just kinda swamped as it is. We'll see!

Oh! A fun little thing--and noteworthy if you have kids. I've cleaned out my family room of all kid toys PERMANENTLY. I was able to maneuver the few baby toys we had in here to the playroom. It's so nice to have a clean/toy free family room! (Well, of course Maddy will bring toys in here, but it's good to know their home is in the playroom.)

Ok, back to purge mode!

The fair, the garage and other odds and ends.

So the latest big thing we've done lately is go to our local fair. When we originally purchased tickets we were wondering if we should buy a unlimited ride bracelets or individual tickets. We went with two unlimited bracelets. One for Matt and one for Maddy. I'm glad we did because they had a ton of rides for her! She was able to fit on some of the in between rides but also all the kiddie rides. So it worked out really well. It was also her first day that I let her skip her nap on purpose (besides flying, etc). I think her favorite was the big slide or the motorcycles. Anyway, of course we had to buy the usual fair food--blooming onion, funnel cake and lemonade. Maddy had such a blast at the fair though. She came home exhausted and hot, but happy! It was a nice early bedtime that night!

Our garage is one of our biggest clutter issues (besides the kitchen counters--things multiply there on their own, I swear. They do). Matt uses it to work on projects. I throw things out there that need to be stored on shelves I can't get to. In general, it just gets cluttered. Well, yesterday I spent the majority of the morning going through it and putting stuff away! I can fit the van in there now with room to spare (on the sides). It barely fits in the front and back, but at least it does. Turns out we have the 'extended garage' option. When our neighbor found out our van fits in the garage they were very impressed. It took a while, but I finally did get the garage cleaned out! And I had two boxes of stuff for charity as well!

Can I say, I really miss having Maddy in the cart in places like Target? No, it's not because she grabs stuff or runs off. It's because she actually holds on TOO much to the cart! I'm afraid I'm going to run over her little toes! She sticks like glue to it and while that's great, I'm constantly saying, "Honey, just one hand... not too close, I don't want to pinch you..etc." Plus I can't move as quickly either. Oh well! At least she's not the opposite--running off and grabbing things off the shelves.

I am really beginning to hate night time thunderstorms. Maddy used to sleep through them but not anymore. Now she's afraid of them which makes sense and I understand that. But man... sitting up with her waiting for it to pass is such a pain! Plus then it takes me a while to fall back asleep. I feel bad for her though, she hates the noise. Normally she likes to cuddle into Daddy during thunderstorms but she picks me as well.

A very cool thing. I've been getting both kiddos to nap at the same time in the afternoon! Oh my! What a lovely thing! Adrian doesn't seem to love morning naps so he's normally really tired by 1 and sleeps really well. He'll cat nap a bit in the morning but if I lay him down in his crib he'll fuss and call for me instead of sleeping. So I'll take concurring afternoon naps! Yippie!

Ok, off to do some more chores. I have 15 min. before Maddy will call and who knows how long before Adrian wants to get up!

Catching up, again!

Adrian is officially three months old! I can't believe it! It sure did go fast! He is such a cutie. He's up about once a night now, but sometimes up for good at 5 am. That's pretty painful. But he's so cute at that time of day it's hard to be irritated for too long. Given, I'm still pretty tired--cute can't cure tired. :)

Maddy's been doing great with him and being a big girl, too. She's really doing great with her letters and numbers. Her coloring is finally coming around, too. Thank goodness! I set up an art station for her at her table with crayons, markers, stickers, paper, glue and scissors. She's been spending a TON of time there. It makes quite a mess--the smidgems of paper. But, she loves it.

Matt was in Chicago for a week but he was able to find a flight down for my mom SAME DAY for only $250. Plus she was upgraded to first class on the way down! It was great having the help and the kiddos loved seeing her and her them.

Matt is home today because he worked his butt off last week--8 am to often midnight every day! He got home at 1 am on Saturday night. It was nice to have him home!

Father's day was good here. I bought Matt a new grill for for Father's day. Matt made baked potatoes, corn on the cob and porterhouse steaks. He put mushrooms on the side burner. I didn't have to cook all Father's Day! Matt made his favorite breakfast (that he enjoys making otherwise I would have made it)--double chocolate chip pancakes.

Ok, well, that's about it! Have a good one!
