April 2009 Archives

April 11, 2009

One week update written March 24.

So I can't believe it's already been a week since Adrian arrived into our lives! Man, time sure does fly! Since I've been asked how things are going I thought I'd just post a general note. No offense to anyone who sent me notes personally but I simply don't have time (ambition or energy) to post back to every person. I'll try to touch on everything though!

First and foremost, a heartfelt thank you to all my dear friends who've offered dinners, services, babysitting/playgroup for Maddy, etc.. I highly appreciate it. Just because I haven't taken you up on your services yet doesn't mean I won't! So I will let you know as the time comes.

Tuesday, St. Patty's day, during Maddy's nap time my water broke. It was a pretty big gush. My first thought was working the numbers--37 weeks 2 days. Ok, at least I'm full term! Plus, with him measuring big I assumed it would all be good. Next up, call Matt and tell him my water broke. (Thank God he answered his cell.) He said, "Your water broke?" in this dazed way. "Yep." "I'm on my way home--*click*" Next up, call the doctor to let them know I was coming in. After waiting on hold for what seemed like forever (even after getting a hold of someone) they finally came back and said the doctor would be waiting for me at the hospital and to come on in. Then I called Tina and asked if she'd watch Maddy. At first she didn't answer and I thought I would have a panic attack, but when I called her back my call waiting went off and it was her. :) Matt called his parents immediately and they were on their way from Chesapeake.

While on the phone Maddy came down from nap and asked what was up. I told her that daddy was on the way home and Mommy had to go to the hospital to have the baby. She handled the initial news fairly well.

The bags were all prepped upstairs ready to go so I didn't need to worry about that. I gathered up the last of our last minute supplies from my master list and put them in a pile. Then Maddy and I hung out on the couch and waited for Matt to get home. It was nice to snuggle her for a bit knowing this was the last time I would snuggle her without a sibling.

Matt got home and Maddy 'helped' him pack the van. It was very important that she felt like she had a hand in getting ready, but honestly, I was getting a bit frustrated at how slowly things seemed to be moving. Finally, we were all in the van and ready to go.

We dropped Maddy off at Tina's. This was not without tears and octopus arms trying to keep a hold of Matt. She even ran out of Tina's house before Matt was in the van and grabbed hold of him and wouldn't let go. Finally, Matt had to physically pass Maddy off to Tina and have Tina hold her while we left. Not the smoothest drop off, but the best we could do considering how she's been having so much separation anxiety as the baby got closer to delivery. (No matter how many 'waiting for baby' and 'I'm a big sister' books we've read.) Fortunately, she was going to Tina's house who Maddy's known for half her life and with Nate who is just two days younger than Maddy. I knew she was in great hands while she waited for Grandma and Grandpa to arrive from Chesapeake.

After check in at the hospital they set me up in the pre-op room. They had Adrian on monitor and they were monitoring me for contractions. To my surprise, I was having contractions 3 minutes apart! I was only 1 cm dilated. They did a test to see if my water broke and it came back as a no. Hmm.....then what was that big gush of water? Sometimes I don't trust hospital tests.... Anyway, they had me wait around for a while and walk the hallways. When they came back an hour (or so--doctor time, after all) later I was 2-3 cm. dilated. So it was a go!

After that, it was a flurry of activity! I hadn't seen many people other than the doctor once or twice and the nurse since the time we arrived. All of a sudden there were a ton of people in the room with me. Nurses, anesthesiologist, the doctor, and other various medical professionals. I was grateful for how friendly and reassuring everyone seemed. Even though I really wasn't all that nervous (my initial nervousness after my water broke was the worst). I especially loved the co-anesthesiologist's St. Patty's day hair 'net' for a lack of a better word. After getting the IV (YUCK) and having some blood tests (yuck again) it was time to roll! Into the ER I went. Matt had to wait outside for them to call me in. I guess he said it seemed like forever.

Once I was in the OR my nerves set in a bit and I was a bit shaky. Then the OR temp (very very low--easily below 60) didn't help and I was shaking like crazy. This really cool old dude with a jewish cross around his neck was my--I don't even know what his title was? But he was the guy who hung out with me while the prep work was going on. Man, he could talk and keep conversation going. Thank God for people like that. :-) I sat up on the edge of the table with my back arched and they inserted the spinal in my back and then they had my lay down. They laid out my arms on both sides of me straight out to monitor my blood pressure and also keep track of my iv. They sterilized my stomach, laid the paper that sticks to the sticky stuff on my stomach that they work through. After that they basically had me prepped and they put up the curtain so I couldn't see. And then they brought Matt in. That's when I cried a few tears, not due to nerves but because I was pretty excited and most likely really hormonal.

Speaking of nerves--that's some good stuff they put in those spinals. Within about four minutes of having it everything started going numb and I stopped shaking. I no longer felt cold and I felt pretty darn relaxed!! Morphine is some good sh*t!! :-) I think it was the most calm I've felt during the whole event!!!

From what I understand, everyone in the OR was pretty darn impressed that I was holding part in the conversations that were going on around me. They were also pretty impressed at just how nonchalant I was about the whole thing. Well, what is there to do?! Freak out? This is the point of no return people, it's not like I can back out now, so I may as well go with it, right?

The only thing I didn't like about the c-section was the smell of burning 'material' (aka--me) since my skin is cauterized. I really don't know what for, though. Anyway, Adrian was breech (in fact I'm pretty sure his first expression to the world was Kiss My @ss! since that's how he arrived into the world) and he also had the cord around his neck once. Glad it was a planned c-section! Because even if it weren't, it would have wound up being one! He got a 9 on both his Apgar tests which is really great.

Adrian was taken out to the pre/post op room and I sent Matt with cause all they had left to do was seal me up. It is funny to hear them counting off their medical supplies that they used on me to make sure any didn't go 'missing'. I guess they also had something much like a shoe door hanger thing that was labeled with different names of material that should go in it to make sure they had everything they needed to get out. Huh. Glad they are organized!

In the post op room I was able to hold Adrian and it was soooo nice. I couldn't believe he was out! Of course they were still working on getting him all finished up from birth. He was quite large for 37 weeks! 7 lb. 12 oz. and 20.5 inches. I was glad for it though.

That was when the fun began--throwing up. Morphine may be good stuff, but overall the drugs they gave me in the OR did not agree with me. I threw up on and off for over 5 hours that night. Of course, it was more dry heaving. It kind of prevented me from holding Adrian a ton because I didn't know when it would hit. There wasn't much warning. Fortunately, I never missed. :-)

I didn't sleep much that first night--I guess I was just too excited, queasy and coming down from the drugs. The next day was a whirlwind of activity with a lot of nurses and doctors. I did finally get out of bed by 11 am to get moving--it is the best way to heal after all. It felt great to wash my face, brush my teeth and just overall be clean.

We put Adrian in the nursery every night and had him brought back for feedings. We had him spend most of the day in our room except for if we napped (which didn't happen as much as we liked--darn hospital staff coming in every 10 minutes or so it seemed). Matt stayed with me every night and it was nice to have him there to rely on.

Maddy, grandma and grandpa came to visit the next day. Maddy seemed very concerned about Adrian but did not want to get near him, really. He did 'tickle' his head and said, "Oh, he's so cute!" But that was about it. Although she was good to scold daddy when he 'forgot' to cover up one of Adrian's feet when he wrapped him back up in a blanket. She enjoyed taking pictures with her new digital camera that was a big sister gift. But she was ready to go after just a few minutes. She was bored and I'm pretty sure she just really didn't want to be there. She came a few more times over the course of the next few days with grandma and grandpa so Matt would take her to do things while grandma and grandpa visited with the baby.

On Thursday we had our Pastor come over and baptize Adrian. There was no need to hurry, but I am a full proponent of not waiting for baptism. There are no guarantees in life, so I didn't see a reason to wait.

Overall, our time at the hospital was really good. I thoroughly enjoyed this hospital more than the one I gave birth to Maddy in. I thought the staff was great and our doctors did a wonderful job. I absolutely love our pediatrician. (It's a team, but the same one was there every day to see Adrian.) We decided to stay an extra day to watch Adrian's weight and also his Jaundice.

After my throwing up spell, I really came around and I've been doing REALLY well. I've had very little pain, needed very few prescription pain meds (although I am still on advil regularly to keep inflammation down). I was walking the hallways of the hospital within two days. I was dressed and up within two days. It felt so great to take my shower in the hospital. Best shower ever!

I have been trying to keep my activity to a low level. I don't want to overdo it and set myself back. The hardest part is being 'stuck' upstairs. I can only do the stairs ONCE a day. Argh, it is so hard to do! I didn't realize how many times I go up and down until I can't do it.

Grandma and grandpa have been a tremendous help. Grandma has done all the cooking and keeping track of stuff. Matt has had Maddy the entire time along with also keeping track of the house and the baby, too. Grandpa has been dealing with all the cat stuff including Joe's shots. I have been spoiled rotten--food brought to me upstairs, water brought to me, feeding the baby, etc... all done upstairs since we came home.

Maddy has been handling the baby pretty well. She's been a great helper and seems genuinely concerned about him. She doesn't like it when he cries though. She has not held him yet, but she does give him kisses, sings to him and helps with his bottle. However, the separation anxiety has not decreased any. She's done being with Grandma and Grandpa and only wants Mommy and Daddy now (more Daddy than Mommy--she's always been a daddy's girl). We'll have to see how this goes tomorrow when Matt goes back to work! I haven't seen any of the usual regression though--potty training or sleeping. For this we will be eternally grateful.

Adrian has been doing well, too. He's a really easy baby--sleeping most of the time except for when he gets hungry. He's been sleeping in his infant seat since he does NOT like to lay flat on his back. I guess this is usual for babies who are early in term when delivered. He sleeps great in the infant seat though. We have him in our room right now in the pack and play and then in the infant seat next to our bed. He's a good sleeper but that first night flat on his back in his crib he was up every 20 minutes or so and finally about 2 am I had Matt go get the pack and play since we were tired of walking to his room and he woke Maddy up once, too. She was not too thrilled about that. The next night while in the infant seat we got about 5 hours of sleep which isn't that bad and much better than the 3 the night before.

Adrian is a good eater. However, I am not producing enough milk to keep up with his demand so we've had to supplement with formula. I'm also pumping with a hospital pump between feedings and taking some supplements of my own to increase milk supply--however, it is not going well. Adrian is also starting to refuse to nurse because why would he when he can get it easier with a bottle? Anyway, I don't want this post to turn into a 'breast feeding thread' so if you'd like to comment on breast feeding, I'd love to hear it, but please send it via a message. Thanks!

Matt has been super dad. He's been doing everything from making sure I'm stocked with what I need to taking the baby quite often to dealing with a clingy preschooler and keeping up the house as well. However, he hasn't had many naps (I've been napping with Maddy) and he looks utterly exhausted. He's going back to work tomorrow AM and I'm hoping he doesn't bring home any sickness. He is looking pretty run down. Poor guy. I think I'm doing better than he is. Of course, he says that's good since I'm the one on the mend and not him. I do disagree.

Tomorrow AM my plan is to get ready for my day and spend the majority of my time on the main floor. I think Maddy needs that stabilization of having a parent with her during the day. Then both her and I will come up and get a nap leaving Adrian with grandma and grandpa and I'll have to spend the rest of the night upstairs after nap. Fortunately, there are only a couple hours between nap and the time Matt gets home so it should go just fine. Tomorrow should be interesting since Matt goes back to work and Maddy has been so clingy. Hopefully me being around more will help with that transition. Thank goodness for grandma and grandpa who have dropped literally everything to be here for three weeks!!! My parents come in the beginning of April (what would have been two days after my c-section date) to stay for a week. So four weeks with help is really great!

Ok, so there's my update. Wow, that took forever.

Hello world! Here I am!

I was going to title this, Coming back from the dead. But well, considering tomorrow is Easter I'll save that for Jesus, huh? Anyway, my title works well for not only my blog but also for Adrian! Who would have known that the day after my maintenance notice I'd be in the hospital!? Of course, that didn't help Matt to have a BABY to take care of and not quite being able to get to our blog or gallery to get it fixed. So here I am a little less than a month later.

Yes, Adrian Allen Jackson was welcomed into this world on March 17th at 10:27 at night! He weighed in at 7 lb. 12 oz. and was 20.5 inches long. He has a full head of dark brown hair the same as his sister's. :)

It was funny. That morning my OB called and told me I'd need to reschedule my c-section from the 30th to the 31st because she was going to be out of town. Let's face it, I wasn't real thrilled. Dammit, I had this all planned out!!! I had the 30th all set to go and everything was ready. Turns out Adrian had other plans!

During Maddy's nap my water broke. Oh MY! First thing I did was pick up the phone and call Matt. Fortunately, he did answer his cell. And that's when everything went into the works! I had packed the bags about a week before so that was good. I was at 37 weeks and 2 days so that was good, too! At least I was full term!

The labor and delivery went well. It was another c-section. There was a lot of waiting around this time around though. They weren't sure I was actually in labor or that my water broke. But after it was confirmed that I really was in labor everything went into the works.

I have a one week catch up blog that I will post after this one that tells more about the actual delivery so stay tuned for that!

The last month has gone well. It's shocking to me that Adrian is already almost a month old. Less than one more week and he'll be one month!! YIKES! He's doing fairly well. He doesn't sleep as well as he did when he was first born. But he sleeps in stretches. Sometimes he is awake a lot though. He really enjoys his sister and is drawn to her voice. Maddy is SO GOOD with him. I'm so impressed. She's been doing really well with me as well. He eats every two to three hours at night and has had about 2-3 stretching of 4 hours in between feedings.

We had a lot of help the last few weeks and it's been really nice. Grandma and Grandpa Jackson dropped everything and came for two weeks to help us. My parents came down for a week after that and they left on Thursday. So this upcoming week is my first week all on my own! Hopefully things will go well. We have a playgroup Thursday morning and that's the extent of our plans for next week minus maybe a grocery store trip. (If I'm adventurous or desperate enough.)

Ok, well, it's 10:00! I still want to upload some photos to our gallery but it will most likely happen tomorrow.

Please change your bookmarks to reflect our new pages. http://www.teaholic.com and http://www.teaholic.com/gallery (for our photos). There's no S anymore after http!

Happy Easter!

Our Easter was good here, a bit tiresome, but good. Last night was a hard night with Adrian. And we were all dragging today because of it. Plus, he didn't want to sleep today unless he was being held so every time I laid him down he wanted to be back in my arms 20 minutes later. So it was a lot like a yo-yo, up and down...

Maddy really enjoyed her Easter basket this year! Some of her favorites were the play doh, tattoos and fuzzies. I have lots of great pics of her and a couple of Adrian too.

Speaking of photos, Matt is having huge issues with our gallery software so it won't let me upload from our new camera and I don't know why. We're still working on it! I'll let you all know when it is up and running again. Hopefully soon before I get too far behind on the kids' pics!

Mom's Night Out!

I can't wait for tonight! Mom's night out tonight! Yippie! It'll be nice to get out and see some friends, have some laughs and hang out. Of course, it comes at a premium--sleep! Not that I've been getting much of that anyway, so who cares! :-)

This morning went well. I went to the dermatologist and that went well. I do love that office and I love being able to get a 7:30 appointment. That worked really well today since I had been up since 4:30 anyway. So no time like the present. When I got home and once Matt was out the door the kiddos and I ran errands to UPS Store, the bank and also to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription (for hormonal acne).

Once we were home I made some lunch. I can see this being an interesting point in the day since Adrian wanted to be held and would fuss after about 5 minutes of sitting in his infant seat. I may need to transport the swing up and down every day (since I want to use it at night if need be) so I can put him in that while I try to do some work. I did get lunch into Maddy and I though and got her off to nap. She's been up twice though during nap, sneaking around upstairs!! Sneaky Pete! I just hope she sleeps good and long. Adrian is due up any minute for his next feeding.

I tried to lay down a bit, but I heard Maddy so I got up to check on her twice and Adrian fussed once. And well, three strikes and I'm out. So instead I'll browse the web for a bit!

Ok, have a good one all!

Still here! At least I think so?

Tonight I honestly don't know if I'm coming or going. it's been a LONG and tiring day here and I am so ready to go to bed! But I thought I'd quick blog before going to bed.

Last night was rough after 2. Adrian ate at 2:30 and at that point Matt switched bedrooms to get some good sleep. He had taken the 11 feeding which I was grateful for. I had taken some nyquil so I was in no frame of mind to get up at 11. Anyway, the 2:30 feeding wound up spanning 2 hours. Adrian ate until about 2:50 and then pooped so I had to change that (3:30) and then at 3:45 he was ravenous so I gave him a bottle. He finally fell asleep about 4:15 and I was out right after. But by 4:45 he was grunting and moaning and groaning so I finally stuck him in his swing about 5 and then he slept well until 5:30. Again at 5:30 with the moaning and groaning. Turns out he was hungry again early! So another bottle there.

Then we were all up at 6 (well, me since 2:30 with about a 1/2 hour of sleep in there). Matt was soooo wonderful and let me sleep in until 8:30! How'd I thank him?? I refused to wake up! No kidding! Maddy and Matt were both yelling at me standing next to the bed and I never budged. Matt was scared to death for a split second or two thinking I had made him a widower!! I am a very LIGHT sleeper so that's not at all like me. I guess Maddy must have finally said something that clicked cause I woke up before Matt was going to shake me. Yes, shake me. He was freaked out!

Today was pretty good, but crazy here. Poor Maddy has watched way too much TV today because I worked on our baby announcements most of the morning while Adrian took a morning nap. I'm glad I did it then though. Cause Adrian barely slept the rest of the day! He is finally sleeping now. I think he got about 30 minutes of sleep between noon and 8:30 tonight!!! We switched formula consistencies (ready made to powdered) and I think it's messed with his digestive track a bit. He's more gassy than on the ready-made. I'm sure it will just take a couple days to adjust to it. He's not fussy though, thank goodness. Maddy also didn't nap for me today so that was rough but it does guarantee an early bedtime--7:15-7:30! That's a plus.

Matt accidently dropped Joe's insulin on the floor this morning and broke it. So Matt called CVS to fill it and at 2:30 the doctor called and told me she'd reorder it for us. I called at 6 to see if it was ready to be picked up and no such luck! So I called the vet and asked what was up and it turns out that they've misplaced his chart and the doctor who is overseeing it is not in but they are checking to see if they can get another doctor to OK it for us instead. UH YEAH. I need to give him his shot tomorrow morning, people! He can skip one dose since he is on so little, but he does still NEED it. Don't ask me how we're going to go and get it and get it home by the time he needs it tomorrow AM at 7:30. Fortunately, it's a 24 hour CVS and I know we'll be up tonight anyway so maybe I'll just trek out at 2 and get it then? LOL. In PJs and all with a baby and bottle in hand. Ha! Ok, maybe not. I'm just going slap happy.

Funny story. I gave Adrian a bath today while Maddy took a bath. I had Adrian's bathtub on the counter and when I was finished and he was dressed I went to unplug the drain. Well, I guess it was JUST ENOUGH off the sink that it starts going onto the counter! Then I couldn't get it plugged and I was feeding Adrian a bottle (with my chin since he had screamed bloody murder to get it while he was getting bathed). So I didn't really want to interrupt his bottle. So I tried to tilt the tub to get the drain (that I couldn't replug) over the sink and wound up tipping the entire bathtub over and spilling it ALL OVER the floor! A few towels later, the bathroom floor is clean. Oh well.

I sent out 84 baby announcements today! Some with additional pictures as well of Adrian and Maddy that I had done a week ago. They turned out really cute for including a newborn! Maddy did great as well but she always does. :) I bought another 20 postcard stamps to do a few more, too. Since oh, I have NINE HUNDRED left over!!! YEP! 900! Turns out that even though I only paid for 100 they sent me 1000! Yikes! I guess that's a great deal for $19! Still funny though.

Ok, off to get ready for bed since both kids are asleep!

April 20, 2009

Nice weekend!

This weekend Matt's parents came to visit. As always, Maddy LOVED seeing grandma and grandpa. They had a great time! I was able to get a lot accomplished as well since someone was able to watch/play with the kids. I did some major grocery shopping on Sunday morning. We were out of EVERYTHING. Maddy spent a lot of time outside this weekend since the weather was beautiful--high 70's! She planted some seeds and plants with grandma and had a nice time doing that.

Matt and I went out for a great dinner Saturday night. I was somehow able to find something appropriate to wear (that's not sweats or the same ol' jeans) and it was great to get out of the house as a couple. Sunday Matt came down hard with my old cold.. Poor guy. He's still pretty miserable today, too. Although he is better today than yesterday.

I got out the birth announcements last week. I'm expecting some more stamps in the mail soon as I'll get the last 20 out soon, too.

Tonight is Mom's Night Out! I am absolutely excited. It'll be nice to get out again! Ok, mail is here. I'm off. Thought I'd just check in!

April 25, 2009

Good Saturday Morning!

Just a quick check in. I'm on my way to a shower. Matt and Maddy are making chocolate chip pancakes. :)

All is well here! On Wednesday Maddy, Adrian and I went to the post office and also to one of our many local parks. We simply needed to get out of the house!! Maddy had a really nice time playing. Thursday was a really nice morning. We had playgroup at our house and Maddy was so excited to see her friends. It has been a while--a full month, since our last playgroup! Maddy had such a blast and I think her friends had fun, too. Adrian slept through most of playgroup which allowed for me to have a free hand. Thursday afternoon we went outside to play like we really try to do while the weather isn't too hot. Friday morning Adrian was pretty fussy so I got us all ready to go and headed out for a walk/bike ride. Well, the bike ride part lasted half a block. So we walked back home and dropped off the bike and went for a walk instead. Of course, we stopped at our local park on the way home. Maddy helped Daddy mow the lawn last night and Maddy always has a great time being outside with him helping pick up sticks, moving downspout stuff for him.

Adrian went 4.5 hours between feedings yesterday! 9-2:30 am! Now, he was up at 2:30, 4:30 and then 6, but at least we had that one stretch. It makes me hopeful. We'll see! He's been getting a bit more 'demanding' lately and will cry more readily when he is crabby or simply unhappy. I guess he isn't willing to be as patient as he used to be. Of course he wants to be held as much as possible which isn't always an option so I've used the new sling some (thanks Grandma for making it for me) and the swing (although he tires of that pretty quick) and well, sometimes he just has to wait.

This morning at 12:30 I woke from a dream to feel movement on the end of my bed. I thought maybe Joe was in here, but I couldn't figure out how since we close the door behind us at night now. Then I felt hair and being 3/4 still asleep I freaked for a split second and thought we had left Adrian on our bed after a diaper change and went back to sleep! (Now, he was never even changed on our bed last night since he slept from 9-2:30 anyway--so that wasn't even a possiblity.) Then I realized it was Maddy! She must have snuck quietly into the bedroom and neither of us noticed her so she decided she was going to sleep with us, went back to her room, grabbed her blanket, dragged it back in and was in the process of laying down at our feet when I felt the movement and woke up! I was pretty impressed she can be that quiet though. And she didn't fuss when I led her back to her bedroom and put her back to bed.

This weekend will be pretty uneventful. I have a girls' afternoon out though tomorrow. We're going out for tea! It should be pretty nice. Matt has a few house things he wants to get done around here but I'm hoping to get out and enjoy the nice weather as a family this weekend--maybe a picnic or something like that! It's supposed to be beautiful this whole week with highs in the upper 80's.

Ok, off for that shower! Have a great week!

April 26, 2009

Whew!

So this weekend was busy and good! Yesterday was rather hell on wheels. Adrian was fussy and Maddy was squirmy and very needy for attention, plus she wasn't following directions very well. I was quite happy to have both kids asleep for a while! Maddy went to bed at 7!!! That's about 1/2 or an hour early for her. But she really needed it and fell right to sleep. However, today was much more calm. Adrian was much less fussy and Maddy seemed a lot more even keel.

Matt built a 'foundation'/cover for the culvert we have in the back of our house. It is basically a mini deck and then he covered it with green AstroTurf. It has steel feet on it and it's really neat! Then he put Maddy's playhouse on top if it and it's really cool! And it didn't take that long either!

We also put Maddy's mattress and boxspring on the frame and headboard/footboard yesterday. Then we went out and bought the bedskirt and step stool for it. It's really tall now, but Maddy has the guard rail so she won't fall out. She is so proud to have a taller bed and just loves it.

Today I made turkey chili in the crockpot. I froze all but one serving. I was glad to get a few extra meals into the freezer!! I also did a load of laundry and all the usual house stuff. Then at 2 I went out for afternoon tea with the ladies from the neighborhood. It was soooo much fun! There's nothing like sitting down to a good cup of tea--especially one I can focus on! :) The food was excellent as well--as was the company! What a great time!

Now onto this week--the same great group of women are making dinners for me this week so I don't need to. They realized the grandparents were here for a few weeks so they didn't want to bring over food then. I will really appreciate it this week!

I have my six week doctor appointment this week. Yes, six weeks already! I can't believe it! I also have a playgroup this week, too. So that's great! But I am hoping to go out more with the kiddos, even if it's just to play outside although it should be hot.

It's been really hot here--upper 90s and humid! Yikes! Where did spring go?

April 29, 2009

Checking in...

Since both kids are napping at the same time. They did yesterday, too--for 2.25 hours! Yeah! I am expecting Maddy up soon though.

Yesterday the kiddos and I went to a local park we hadn't been to. It was finally not horribly hot and before the rain hit today. It was a lot of fun. They had a lot of stuff Maddy hadn't tried before and she had a blast with it and getting out and about, too. Adrian had a fussy morning so getting him in the car and in the stroller for rides were good things and he slept pretty peacefully.

This morning I had a migraine hit me like a ton of bricks. I have no idea where that came from! I've had more sleep in the last couple of days than I have for a while. I've slept in the spare room and during the middle of the night feeding Matt and I switch spots. It's great to get some good sleep without Adrian's noises waking me up. I wish I weren't such a light sleeper! But yeah, poor Matt had to stay home for a few hours this morning while I laid in a dark room trying to get rid of the headache. Now it's at least manageable.

Speaking of, we've moved the sleep and play into the master bathroom which is attached to our bedroom but has french doors we can close! It's so nice to have Adrian's sleep noises be a little more muffled. It makes it a lot easier to sleep! But he's still close and woke wake up Maddy if he cries. Here's hoping he either A gets on a schedule soon or B sleeps through the night so he can go to his own room!

Today is rainy, but it matches my headache and it means I won't feel guilty about not going outside to play. So it's just a lazy day here. I'm glad for it. I see movie night in Maddy's future tonight if I continue with this headache (better, but still there. At least I don't see stars and hear buzzing now). Anything to keep her quiet and still for this evening. I'm sure I can handle this afternoon just fine. But with Matt having to work late, I'll need all the preoccupation I can get!
