Great relaxing weekend

A big thank you to Grandma and Grandpa who drove up from VA Beach to watch the kiddo this weekend so Matt and I could get away for a couple of nights. It's been so great just relaxing--not rushing, not trying to plan everything out, not being woken up by the cats at all hours of the night, not being woke up by a kiddo at 6, not having to make meals or think about them really. It's been really nice!!

We left about 11:30 on Saturday morning. Maddy did not like seeing us go. She was crying. But she's been having some separation anxiety lately, also during ballet as well. But I heard she dried up as soon as we left and she went grocery shopping with grandma and grandpa right afterwards, too. Matt and I ate lunch at Red Rock Canyon and it was really nice. Then we went to Pentagon City Mall and wandered around a bit...didn't find much, if anything to buy. Then we took a little drive and checked into our hotel and took a really nice NAP!!! Then we popped out for dinner at Pei Wei and then went to Barnes and Noble and Best Buy to browse around and do some shopping. We found a cute board game at Barnes and Noble so we've played a few rounds of that this weekend. We stopped for Damon's Grill and it was quite enjoyable. Even though it's a sports bar, they have a completely separate dining area that isn't noisy or smokey! Overall, all our meals out were quite a hit this weekend!!! I couldn't be more pleased (or more stuffed). We got a late nap, ordered in pizza, sat around and browsed the web and played a board game or two! It was so nice to be lazy!

But now it's time to get a move on! Matt brought up breakfast from the breakfast bar downstairs and he still needs to clear off the car so we can head home to our girlie-girl who misses us. It's been a great weekend out. But we need to get moving!

I hope everyone else had a great weekend as well!

This that and the other thing....

I have been reminded that I have a blog and that I should update it now and again (thanks Dad!). Anyway, I have taken a break from facebooking (to which I am truly addicted and why I am not here) to say hi. :) I have posted a few pictures of Maddy on her gallery and a couple of me in the Adrian Gallery.

Things have been good here. On Tuesday Maddy and I caught up on some house stuff and that night I had mom's night out. (Not bad if you ask me, going away through Monday and then getting a Mom's night out on Tuesday!) It was really nice hanging out with the other moms and eating/talking. However, the eating part did not agree with my stomach later that night and I was up with heartburn and reflux a lot of the night. So miserable. Anyway, Matt's been a gem about letting me get some extra sleep in the morning when I sleep horrible at night. Wednesday Maddy and I ran some errands--actually quite a few! I've started to prep the stuff I need for our hospital trip. I haven't actually put it into the bags yet, but that will happen this weekend. So our Walmart run consisted of a lot of that. Not to mention I scored some fuzzy cute PJs for the next month for myself for only $5 each! Can't complain about that. We also stopped at Babies R Us and looked at slings. Holy cow, they are expensive! So anyway I have commissioned Grandma J into making one for Matt and I. :) Thanks Grandma J! Of course the normal errand running as well. Yesterday morning I had a normally scheduled OB appointment. They aren't worried about measuring big and said that because of the way the baby is laying he may not be so big after all. We'll see! Thursday night I went to pottery where I glazed seven out of eight pots and tooled my eighth pot. I heard they were going to do a glaze firing today so I may stop by on Sunday to see if it's out of the fire yet! I'm excited to see how they turned out. Today we had playgroup with Annabelle and that was a lot of fun. Then we went outside to play after nap because the weather was so nice. Maddy has really gotten the hang of her bike! Too much so, actually that now I almost need to run to keep up with her. And let's face it--that ain't happenin'!!! LOL!

Other than that, this weekend will be 'get stuff done' weekend around here. I want to prep the hospital bags, finally finish folding and putting away those baby clothes and do whatever else needs to be done.

I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

36 weeks!

I had my 36 week OB appointment today. It went well as usual. Blood pressure, urine, baby's heart beat and everything is good. Next week I'll officially be full term! We went to the pet store afterwards to kill time (Petco) and Maddy loved looking at the white mice the best. Then we went out for a chinese food lunch. Maddy LOVED it. She loves chinese food. It was 60 here today so when we got home I let her play outside for a bit before nap.

Matt IM'd me this afternoon to let me know he'd have to work late because one of his employees called in sick and wound up having to host his consultant all day. So he's staying late to get some of his own work done. Maddy and I had a movie night and ate easy food (hot dogs and tator tots) for dinner. She's in bed now and I'm going to spend some time looking at the specs on our new digital camera. I'm really excited to go through it a bit. Still don't know when Matt will be home.

I'm missing coffee night though. Not that Matt knew. I thought it was tomorrow night! I was going to go and glaze my last pot tomorrow night and then head off for coffee night so instead I'll just glaze and probably come home instead. We'll see. This is my last hurrah before the baby so maybe I'll go out for coffee by myself. ???

Nothing going on tomorrow. I need to find my nursing bras and have NO idea where they are. I've looked all over. It's about the last thing I have left that I need to find before Adrian comes. Our car seats are installed and we'll get those checked in a couple weeks (we already have the appointment). Our new monitors should be here any day. Matt still needs to fix Adrian's dresser and then get all the stuff put away in that room. This weekend!

Well, that's about it here. Hope all is well!

Random thoughts

It's getting pretty hard to bend over! Picking up stuff off the floor usually leaves me grunting now. Same thing with rolling over in bed.

A good friend of mine who I've been pregnant with this time had her baby on the 10th! She was 37 weeks but her blood pressure was a bit high so they planned it a bit early. Really confirms that Adrian will be here soon!

We have flurries this morning! Yes, I am still excited for snow. It will turn to rain later though. I'm not excited about cold, bone chilling rain!

I love the way Maddy strategically eats chocolate chip pancakes/waffles to get to the chocolate first. It's cute.

Amazon is annoying and cool all at the same time. I don't like the fact that now when I buy from Amazon I need to be careful who I'm buying from because I'm buying from their 'Market Place' and not directly from Amazon (aka no free shipping). But I do have to say that the return policy for the camera adapter we are sending back (didn't do what we think it did) is cool. Simply print the return address label and attach. Shipping is free! Plus, no post office line! I can stick it right in our mailbox for the mailman to take with him.

The cats are driving me bonkers. Joe wants to eat Ruthie's food and Ruthie wants to eat Joe's food. So when we separate them to feed them they both WAIT to eat until we bring up Joe to eat in the kitchen. We still don't let Joe share with Ruthie though since his food is expensive. Their feeding routine takes a good 1/2 hour now!! ANNOYING for CATS.

I can't find my nursing bras to save my life. Dunno where they are and I really don't want to have to buy more. But I may need to at least buy one. Where are they?

Our infant car seats passed inspection at the fire station. Matt is pretty proud of himself that he has mastered car seat installation! However, we need to buy booster seats for Maddy because she's reached the height limit for the convertible car seats in our car. Then another trip back to the fire station!

I made dinner last night and it was even something NEW, too! And yes, that is something to write home about. I have NOT been planning or making dinners lately. We've been eating stuff I've frozen or easy meals.

I have some reading to do over the next few days. I want to read our new digital camera user manual, read the essential C-section recovery guide and also Matt wants me to read Watchmen (his favorite comic book).

Speaking of our camera. It's pretty cool! Although, it still doesn't have the one thing I really wanted but it doesn't seem that most cameras have--a cord that charges the camera that plugs into the wall. Our Kodak came with a docking station which was nice, but not very portable. But I haven't been able to find a camera that you can just plug into the wall that charges the battery--at all. Not even one that fits our qualifications.

Today is Maddy's last ballet class. She's been having a hard time separating from me for class. I'm not sure if it's the baby or just a stage (she's been a bit whiny and clingy lately, too). Today Matt is taking her. Although it does kind of defeat the purpose because today is the day parents can go in with them to take pictures and video during their 'recital'. We'll see how she does. I still have her signed up for the next class but we'll see how that goes, too. I may cancel before it starts. It's the only thing she's signed up for though because it's a drop off class and will be easiest for me to go to with Adrian in tow. So I don't really want to cut off all her outlets--she will have playgroups though, so that will help.

Breakfast has been a fight around here. Maddy just has NOT been wanting to eat for me. I've tried earlier, later, etc... but nope. It's been frustrating. But lunch and dinner have been better (except for the whining, see above).

Ok, enough random thoughts. Off to read a book with the kiddo!

Full Term!

Today I am officially full term. It has gone so fast this time around. Most of my friends have been saying how I really seem to be doing so well at the end of this pregnancy--energy, moving around, etc... My friend Sarah keeps saying how I haven't complained about ANYTHING at all and how I must be doing so well. I guess I'm just not that much of a complainer, at least about my pregnancy? I just feel very lucky to be pregnant. It's been a kinda tough pregnancy mentally on me this time around. The hormones have made me a bit crazy but it seems to have gotten better towards the end here. Add in there have been a lot of unfortunate circumstances for pregnancies for quite a few of my friends and acquaintances while I happened to be pregnant too this time around. It's made me realize that life has no guarantees and I really will only breath a sigh of relief when Adrian is out and gets the A-OK from the docs. Of course, then starts a whole nother set of worries (sids, rsv, allergies, etc). I keep reminding myself that things will go as they are supposed to go and God has a plan. And there is no use worrying about anything. It is the way it is. I've always been a worrier but actually have been able to control it better as I've gotten older. Plus, I've looked towards my friends who've all had healthy babies recently (or who are having worry-free pregnancies right now) to remind myself that just because I've had a lot of friends who have had troubles it doesn't necessarily mean it will happen to me, too.

And really, I don't have much to complain about. Sure my hormones tend to a be a bit wacky and I've had some big issues with heartburn and varicose vein/spider veins this time around. But other than that, I'm doing well. Those are easy to deal with when you consider what could be happening (blood pressure, preclampsia).

But anyway, yesterday Matt and Maddy went out after fixing Adrian's dresser and I put away all the rest of the baby clothes. Then I sat in his glider for about 10 minutes and just SAT there. It was about the first time in this pregnancy I've had time to sit and contemplate that I'm about to have a baby in two weeks! That I will be holding my newborn and being able to snuggle him. Yes, I've been prepping for him. The room is done, the carseats are installed and checked by the fire department, our bags are packed, etc... but I haven't had the opportunity to sit down and savor the idea that pretty soon I'll be a mommy again. Yes, I'm not quite looking forward to the late night feedings, etc. But I am looking forward to getting my own body back (at least partically since it will be on 'loan' while I'm breast-feeding, hopefully).

We've also feel so blessed to have such great friends and family. I can't believe how many clothes Adrian has! I haven't had to buy any at all, really. Plus we've had two baby showers this time around and that has been very sweet of people (especially since I tried not to have the second one--instead I turned it into donate to your favorite children's charity, no presents please. But still received four gift bags of clothes!).

So I guess we're basically ready! I can't believe it. I think Maddy will do pretty well with Adrian. Of course, there will be some adjustments, but she really is such a well-rounded kiddo that I think it will go as well as can be expected. We've been prepping her accordingly--reading lots of 'bringing home baby' books and 'big sister' books (one that I wrote--a social story, I used to write them all the time for prefacing new situations for kids with autism--works great for ALL kids though).

So there ya go. Only 15 more days go to until my scheduled C-section! March 30th, here we come (if he doesn't com earlier).

Yippie!

I finally found my nursing bras! :-)

Under construction

Just a quick FYI that we are under construction so the blog and gallery may be down periodically. Matt is getting our stuff hosted by a company and we need to move everything over. On top of it, our gallery seems to be having a few issues. Our power has gone out sporadically over the last few days for no real reason and we think it's messed with the server with all the constant on and offs. So if you're my friend on facebook, pop on over there and see new pics. If not, it will be a little bit before you can see them! We'll get them up in the next week though!
