October 1, 2008

Hmmmmm....

I guess I haven't had much to say lately? Matt and Maddy went to the farm again on Monday! They had a really nice time. Of course she went on all the slides again. She really seemed to like the goats this time around. I love the picture of her above! Matt did a great job with pictures and video at the farm. I loved looking at them when he got home. (Speaking of pictures, I'm so glad we have that camera. Matt talked me into it right before Maddy was born and I balked at it, saying we already had a digital one. Well, I wouldn't be without it, honestly. It's not the 'best' camera out there, but it fits in my purse, is easy to use, takes good pictures and I get video from it, too.) Maddy came home with two more pumpkins (one for each paying admission). Now we have/had four mini pumpkins! While they were gone I picked up the house a bit and did some laundry. It was first real venture out of bed since I pulled my back. Matt came home and immediately noticed how much I had done and started giving me grief over doing too much. :) Oh well. I wanted to limber it up a bit, even if it's on my own time and my own terms!

I spent a lot of Monday reading magazines. There's only so much internet out there that's interesting at least. So I've been pretty impressed that I've gone through most of them now. You have no idea how many I had piling up around here. It was ridiculous. Of course, I let a lot of the subscriptions expire. I think I only have two now? Maybe three...but not many.

I do find it funny. I was reading one of my mom's group board and they were talking about a family friendly magazines for ideas for kids that not Parents because their kids have kind of outgrown it. My first thought was, "Errr...If I have time to sit down and page through a magazine, I don't want to read about kid stuff!" HA! Anyway, I DO actually still get Parents magazine but would much prefer to read Self or Readers Digest.

Yesterday, Matt went into work for a half day. I let him sleep in. He was just exhausted from being oncall for both Maddy and I for 24/7 since Saturday AM. After we were all up and ready to go, Matt made a quick run to the grocery store for me (lifting bags isn't the best idea). Off to work he went! By then it was almost time for nap! I made dinner and Matt and Maddy went outside. Maddy played while Matt mowed the lawn. However, she was a great helper, too. She helped Matt move the downspout plastic catchers under each downspout as he was coming to them. It was really cute. Matt also carpet cleaned the downstairs but that wound up taking a while and Maddy was late for bed again. Sigh. It took her a while to go to sleep.

Joe is having accidents. It's really not good. I don't know if it deals with his diabetes or what, but he is not controlling his bladder very well. I may need to call the vet and see what they have to say, but until then we're going to lock him in with his food and litter box at feeding time to see if that helps any. Right now he's locked in with just the food and no litter box. But I think he feels the urge to go while locked in (I can't let him out, he goes straight for Ruthie's food) and can't hold it. Anyway, we'll give this a shot and see how it goes. He's not that old, so...?

I woke up this morning feeling pretty tender in my back. After all, yesterday was the first day in quite a while that I've been on my feet. It didn't stop me from trying to limber it up. I did a lot more laundry, cleaned the bathrooms and straightened up around the house. Then Maddy and I made mulled apple cider with apple juice and mulling spices in the crockpot. We also took the 4 pumpkins from the farm and opened them up, took out the seeds and baked them with salt and butter. I just LOVE fall stuff! All that took until nap time.

I don't know what I'm going to do about nap time. I haven't been sleeping well at night so the naps are really nice for me. Plus, it gets me off my feet for a while. However, I think I'm not sleeping well because I'm sleeping during the day. So today I stayed up and am in a recliner in our sitting room while Maddy sleeps across the way in our bed. It took her a bit longer to fall asleep, but she still did fine. Plus, I still put my feet up and get some me time (I am also listening to my iPod shuffle) as well. If I sleep better I may start going to this instead of napping. We'll see.

Ok, off to finish off another magazine or two! I only have four left.

October 4, 2008

good......morning?

I guess you could call it that. It's 3 am. I have insomnia. But there's nothing new about that lately--it's just been the way it is. Thank goodness for my afternoon naps with Maddy.

Yesterday was an unproductive day. Although Maddy wanted to play school--which I guess I'm pretty well versed at, so we did that. She enjoyed some of the projects we did and it was cute when she'd say, "Now what, teacher?" We also went outside to play for a good long time. Our nap was short--shorter than I would have liked. Matt wound up coming home early from work to let me lay back down which I thought was really nice of him. However, the two of them were giggling like crazy while flying their new helicopter from grandma and papa that I had to get up and share in the fun, too.

Yes, when Matt got home yesterday there was a box at our door! Grandma was very sweet and sewed a lot of dresses for Maddy to wear because, as I said before, she likes to be naked as much as she can. If I throw a relatively warm dress on at least she'll stay warm. The kiddo is like Houdini. She'll strip out of everything and come say Ta-da! They are really cute! Inside was also an indoor helicopter that Maddy loves to fly. I'm not sure how long it will last with both of them crashing it constantly (when the batteries start to give it gets a bit erratic) but it's really cool. Plus, it's actually very gentle--it hit Matt once or twice and it doesn't hurt. Maddy loves it!!!

Both cats are in our bed right now. It's not even that cold tonight. Last night Ruthie was under the covers between us with her head poking out. She's move too much so I'd kick her out and she's come right back. Joe hasn't had any accidents since I've started him on new food. It's a bit too early to tell though, if the food is what was causing the issues. But, it's a good sign.

This week will prove to be fun! I have breakfast with a friend tomorrow and then off to run some errands. Maddy has a birthday party Matt is taking her to. I have two coffee nights next week. Maddy has her two classes. We are also hosting playgroup on Thursday.

Oh, Kudos to Matt. Thursday I called my derm and made an appointment for him to go in and get his back looked at for skin cancer. He has some birthmarks from the sun on his back from when he was a lifeguard and I always look at him and wonder if they are ok. So I made the appointment for him for 7:30 am on Friday. He never got irritated at me for that! :) What a good hubby. It is what allowed him to come home early though since the doctor is near his work and he was to work by 8. The back looks fine and the doctor kind of wondered what he was in for. Matt said, "You know..the wife..." The doctor said, "Ah yes...just do it. If not you're bound to get an ulcer!" Hhahahaaa...men.

Ok, off to go back to bed. Time to try to sleep!

October 5, 2008

Whoo whoo!

I slept for almost 7 hours straight last night! YEAH! I feel like a new woman. Ok, well, maybe not to that extreme but I feel good! Pregnancy does do some weird things to your dreams. Nothing bad, but just very weird. Maddy slept through the night all night although she did have trouble going to sleep. But at least she didn't get up until 6:50, so I'll take it.

Today there is really nothing much on the agenda. I'm sure Matt will want to work on his computer some. I want to put some books into our book cases and get rid of some of our boxes. I have three boxes I can get rid of if I do that. I'm on the quest to get rid of the rest of the paper boxes in the garage. It'll be nice to get that cleared out. I want Matt to be able to park his car in the garage before winter comes so he won't have to clear it off before work. As it is now, we can't get either car in there.

So, I need to tell a 'funny' story. Yesterday Maddy had a birthday party to go to. I had breakfast with a friend in the morning and Matt took her to the party. So he got Maddy ready and took her. He wound up in traffic because of an accident and then had a detour because of a fair downtown. Then he had to find his way through an office park to find the party place. Only to go in and find out the party is NEXT WEEK. Of course, then he has a very excited 2 year old on his hands who wants to go into a party but can't. So he had to try to explain it to her and give her something else fun to do. Argh. I feel just horrible about the whole thing. After all, I was the one who sent them!

We spent a lot of yesterday outside playing. Maddy seemed to like it and so did I. We caught a wheel bug in the bug net, which is good. Cause later I read up that if it bites you it REALLY hurts and can take a long time to heal and even leave a scar. Guess that would have been good to know before I caught the bug.

Ok, well, I'm going to make some scones for breakfast. Have a good one!

October 7, 2008

Yesterday morning Maddy and I went to Matt's work to give him his laptop bag and then drove all the way back to class. It's amazing that's it's a good hour drive round trip! Maddy liked seeing daddy even in the 30 seconds she did. She kept asking to go to work with him. She's been wanting to send me to work lately and have Matt stay home. I laugh because I'd last about 30 minutes at Matt's work (even if I knew what I was doing as well as he did--which, obviously, I don't-- a special ed. degree and a computer science degree are not at all alike!). Maddy has also been complaining about not being able to go to school. She REALLY wants to go. She especially wants to go on the school bus! I don't think she realizes that I'm not coming with her if she goes to school though. But she keeps saying, "Maddy go to school! Pay with ticket and money! Get on the bus and go to school! Maddy never go to school *humpf*!" Maddy had a good time at class though. She keeps reminding me that class is NOT school.

Last night Karen and I stopped at Starbucks for the annual pumpkin spice decaf latte and came back home with it. We hung out for quite a while and that was fun. Matt and I didn't go to bed until 11:30 though and then Maddy was up twice during the night. It was only 60 in here when we got up this morning. I was freezing! Fortunately, the sun has warmed it up to about 66 during the day but Maddy and I still went down for a nap early just because I was cold and she was tired. I need to get her up in the next 15 minutes.

I had my dental cleaning today. Well, I was supposed to have it today. They called a message to reschedule yesterday but I didn't check it before I left at 8:20 this morning with Maddy in tow. Traffic was bad but it still only took me a few minutes to get here so I was pretty early. He was very apologetic (dentist isn't in today). I said I was the one that missed the phone message. And they were soooo good to do a quick chang up the weekend before for me that I am not at all upset besides just trying to figure out what we're going to do out and about now at 8:45 in the morning.

So we went over to our old park by our old house. Maddy just loved it. Obviously she hadn't been by in a while. I wanted to drive by the old place but thought better of it. I didn't want to confuse the kiddo. And Maddy never talked about 'walking home' or anything so that was good.

Okey dokey. Our stew in the crockpot smells delicious. Can't wait for dinner! Almost time to get the kiddo up! Joe won't be happy as he's laying at he feet on the bed. Enjoy the last 10 minutes of quiet kitty cat!

This and that

So this morning I hosted playgroup for Maddy's friend Nate. Both other little playgroup friends aren't feeling the best right now. Maddy and Nate had a really nice time though. I really enjoy seeing kids playing together and interacting together. They really seem to have a nice time. I like how Maddy says Thanks to Nate for helping and visa versa without any prompting. Maddy fell down and Nate went to see if she was ok. It was really cute. 3 is going to be a cute age. Although, I don't remember what Maddy said to me the other day but there was definitely some 'tude in there! HA! It was cute since it was one of the first times we've heard it and Matt and I just gave each other this look, but it was definitely attitude!!!

I slept so well last night. It was soooo nice to sleep well. It's been a long time. So, today I didn't feel like napping so I've been trying to firm up plans for WI. I'm seeing quite a few friends so now I'm trying to pin down times and places to meet. I'm trying mainly for the afternoon/evening during the week. I need to start making our packing list.

I did buy some fun books/coloring books/movies at Target yesterday for Maddy. They are for the airplane only and haven't even opened them yet. She somehow forgot about them on the car ride home so I was able to hide them away and she didn't notice.

Last night I wrote out invitations to Maddy's 3rd birthday party. Little did I know, 3 seems to be the year for Chuck-e-cheese! A friend's little boy just had his party there. Another friend of mine had her kid's party there when she was 3. I guess it's the year! Anyway, cec.com has PDF's that you can just print! So I asked Matt to print some on the color copier at work and they turned out great. I'm really trying to keep the party to as little $$ as possible and I think I can keep it under $50 easy.

I have coffee night tonight with the girls. That will be a great time. I get to meet up with a new member and soon to be new neighbor! She's moving in across the street from me! How exciting! Also get to meet up with a friend who is passing through the area on the her way to California. So both should be a lot of fun!

Ok, need to call the pediatrician to ask a question! Have a good one!

No new pictures

Sorry about the no new pictures on the gallery. I haven't been able to get them to upload them right and have run out of ideas on how to fix it. Matt said he would check it out this weekend.

So today I had my dentist appointment for a cleaning. Maddy charmed both the dentist and the assistant. At one point I was afraid the dentist was going to stab me with the spinning pick of death because Maddy was making her laugh (genuinely--not a chuckle!). She had a lollipop and the dentist was asking her what kind, Peach, lemon? etc... She said, "No, butterscotch, mmm...mmmm...MMMM... delicious!" All I could do was lay there and roll my eyes. She was sure laying it on thick! HA!

Well, that's about all that is new here today. I've started the process of getting stuff together for the airplane trips. Going well! Maddy will be so excited!

Forbidden fruits.

So, Maddy of course is interested in forbidden stuff. For instance, she loves to try to get Matt's coffee. So Matt will either giver her some flavored creamer in the bottom of a playcup or let her dip her finger a couple of times in the coffee. Today I made Matt some coffee and while he was upstairs getting ready Maddy came over to ask for some. I let her dip her finger in it and she licked it off, "Yum...coffee!" Then she grabbed the spoon from my hand and wanted to have a spoonful. I let her have 1/4 a spoonful, maybe 1/4 teaspoon. I've told her before that she can't have soda or coffee because they aren't good for her, they have too much sugar and they have caffeine. She asks about the caffeine and I told her it's what makes her hyper if she has it. So today after her teeny spoonful of coffee she said "Yummy, CAFFEINE!!"

Hahahaha...grandma is right. She does have some Norwegian in her.

Our Saturday.

So yesterday was a very busy day, but a good one! Maddy and I went to a birthday party at House of Bounce. She had a very nice time. There were a few tears. Once because she got herself into a big piece of bounce equipment and couldn't figure her way out. The second was because she gets anxious when kids are coming behind her when she's climbing onto something. She feels rushed. It's not that the kids are rushing her, in fact, they are very patient, but it's the perseption she has. So if I climb up behind her she's a lot more self-assured. By the time pizza and cake rolled around a lot of the kids were DONE and ready to go home. Maddy did well during pizza and cake though, so I can't complain. We did get stuck in bad traffic on the way home so by the time we got home, I was done!! Maddy and I laid down for a nap and when we got up we did a bit of cleaning and then headed out for our flu shots. Inova Fair Oaks is giving thermasol free shots this year for kids under 3 and pregnant women can request thermasol free shots this year too (for an additional 10). So I'm glad we got them before going to WI. However, it takes up to two weeks for the shots to really begin to work. Maddy did GREAT at the shot. Never cried at all.

While Maddy and I were at the party, Matt worked a ton outside. Our yard looks so much better. He and Josh went out and bought 10 bags of mulch last night so I think he's going to put that in while Maddy and I are gone. He was mentioning doing that today, but no go on that. I need to start packing for Maddy and me to go! I have nothing packed yet. The only things I have are a few new toys and videos for Maddy for the plane rides. I need to get a move on on the other stuff. We leave early Tuesday so today and tomorrow are our only days to pack!

Okey-dokey! Time to get a move on!

October 13, 2008

Packing and pictures!

Pictures are back up! And we're almost packed (just last minute stuff now).

Have a good one!

Our flights

So I slept very poorly last night. Eh, it was to be expected. I woke up on my own at 3:45 so I got out of bed and turned off the alarm set for 4. After I was up and ready and so was Matt, we got Maddy up. She did really well considering. There were a few tears when we made her wear her coat to the car, but that was it. Check in was smooth. Maddy and I had the same seats together on both flights. It was in a set of 2 so it was just us. Really nice!

Saying goodbye to daddy was hard for me but Maddy didn't seem to mind much since I don't think she realized at the time that we were LEAVING for a while. Daddy even teared up when we left! Of course, I did too. I'm just that way. :) Maddy was fabulous for me during screening. I had her hold the tickets and my drivers license while I put our bags, shoes, laptop and stroller on the scanner. Once through we went on the people mover (which was pretty crowded). We departed to terminal B and I heard them calling all rows and all passengers for our plane! Holy Cow! So off we went running (well, Maddy in the stroller). I couldn't figure it out. I felt that we were there with more than enough time to spare. Once we were on and settled, which didn't take long, it was only 5:38 and we were scheduled for take off at 6! So they obviously called early.

Maddy was exhausted on the first flight but didn't fall asleep until about 30 minutes before we were going to land. She even slept through landing! Once in Atlanta we had some breakfast and did some walking around. We actually landed 15 minutes early so we had some time to kill.

Our next flight was just as uneventful. Maddy didn't sleep, but she did watch a little bit of videos that I downloaded to my iphone for her. She seemed to enjoy that. We landed early in Milwaukee so that was nice.

Of course Grandma and Grandpa were excited to see Maddy. She was kind of subdued since she was so tired, but she was pleasant although wouldn't let her thumb out of her mouth--so tired! After we had lunch and unpacked, Maddy and I went straight down for a nap at 12:30. We didn't get up until 3. I need to get a clock though. I didn't know what time it was so I wasn't sure if I was supposed to wake up Maddy or not.

Maddy and grandma played outside in the leaves this afternoon. She had a blast with that. We talked to our neighbors some and had a good time with that. Matt still is the computer god. He fixed my internet sight unseen and it wasn't necessarily an easy fix!

He also said that he missed me, really missed me--already. And that he was astounded at how much he already misses me even though I just left and had been at work all day and not even home. :) :) Speaking of missing--Maddy misses daddy horribly, too. She keeps asking for him and I have to keep reminding her that daddy is at home and we'll see him in a week.

Ok, well, time for bath! Have a good week!

And for the mommies out there...

A potty training thing. Today before the airplane ride I put Maddy in a pull-up. It was the first time she's ever worn one. For potty training I started her straight away on underwear. However, I thought with the flights being an hour and then two hours it was a good in between for her. I didn't push it. We went to the bathroom in between flights (twice) and then after the last flight. We also went when we got home to grandma's house. Her pull up was completely dry! That was from 4:00 this morning and it was 7 hours later!! I was really impressed.

Very cool.

The trip thus far.

Madison was a very nice time last night! Maddy, grandma and grandpa and I went to Madison to meet with Nate at the mall. It went too quickly, honestly. It's hard to talk at the mall because well, it's crowded and there are a lot of distractions. But it was a good place to meet up with Maddy, because other than that, it would have been a restaurant. But even as it was I didn't get Maddy to bed until 9 which is 10 our time. I felt bad for Maddy though. She was over tired and was crying a lot about how she missed her daaaa-daaaa! Poor kiddo. I think I got both us ready for bed in record time!

I bought Matt some tshirts at Steve and Barry's. He had asked me to pick up some weekend wear for him and well, I hope this fits the bill. Maddy also saw Buid-a-bear and Grandma and Grandpa bought her a koala (after I talked her out of a $20 bears). Maddy loved stepping on the foot pedal to put in the stuffing and adding heart. Then she went over to 'wash' her bear. She picked out a frilly party dress for it and we put it on. Then Maddy said, "But wait, we need shoes!" Hahahahaa...that's my girlie girl. We helped her pick out matching shoes (strappy gold and silver sandals with heals...ha!). Very cute.

But yes, it was nice to see Nate but it went by too quickly! We've seen a lot of people this trip so far: Jenni and her daughter Madi, Pat, Aunt Diane and cousin Cathy, Joy and her daughters Chloe and Margot, Erica, and Nate. But we've had downtime as well with grandma and grandpa so it's been fun.

Maddy has made out this trip. She received some toys from a lot of different people when we've seen them. Add in a trip to build-a-bear at the mall and the new toys grandma and grandpa had ready for her when she got here and the toys from the backpack and new movies for the plane. She's really made out! Add in that grandma and grandpa are thrilled to play playdoh with Maddy for hours on end, she loves that, too. (As compared to mommy.)

Other than that, I could really use some good sleep. Maddy likes to snuggle me at night and as nice as that is, it's hard to sleep that way. And my allergies/cold is acting up today. I'm thinking it's just allergies as I don't feel bad, but I am STUFFED UP. I've taken sudafed for it this morning. (Speaking of, do you know how hard it is to find info on the web about taking sudafed while pregnant, no one has the guts to say it's ok to take!--contact your doctor--well, I can't, it's Sunday!) I'm sure it's change in weather and also having fall in full force here (we just started in Virginia) and playing outside in the leaves, but man, I'm stuffy!

Okey-dokey! Have a good rest of your weekend!

October 23, 2008

We have returned victorious.

Ok, ok, we've returned. :) Our flight back was LOOOOONG. Our flight out of Milwaukee was delayed. We pulled away from the gate and then sat on the tarmac for what seemed like forever. Then we turned around. That's when I thought, "uh oh". I was right. Our plane had a mechanical issue. So they sent the mechanics (who took forever) to come out and replace a sensor (which took less time than it did for them to get to the plane) and we were on our way. But not soon enough for us to catch our next flight in Atlanta. We missed it by 15 minutes. So anyway, our lay over was long but Maddy and I enjoyed our time walking around, having icecream, people watching, eating dinner. Pretty soon we were on our next plane and were on the ground at 10:30. Maddy was so happy to see daddy as was I! It was so great to be back. After a short car ride home, Maddy was in bed by 11:30. She was one tough kiddo!! She never ONCE lost it at the airport or in the airplane. She was SOOOOOO GOOD. I was so impressed.

Matt did quite a job on the house while we were gone! Our bathroom looks great. He painted it two different colors with a chair rail in the middle. He mulched, put up Maddy's ceiling fan, etc. It looks great in here! Oh and we had the cleaning crew come in and clean, too. It was so great coming home to a clean house!

Yesterday was busy. I unpacked everything, did laundry, caught up on phone messages and email, paid some bills, caught up on the checkbook, etc..etc... just those things that needed to get done. I finally got done folding laundry at 9 PM last night!

Matt ran to the grocery store to get milk in the morning (we were totally out and can't have that) before work and got pulled over for speeding. Sigh, there's one ticket. Then on top of it, his car wasn't registered! ARGH. I THOUGHT I did this. I know I've done a TON of stuff for our cars, I know I did! I am more irritated with the tag ticket than that speeding ticket, honestly. That's the one that tends to be my job that I screwed up on. Darn it. So there goes $$$ to no where!

Last night Maddy had a really hard time going to bed. It wasn't pleasant and it took her forever. Poor kiddo. It can only get better from here on in. But it was pretty miserable.

Today I had my 16 week appointment. Turns out I'm anemic. Who would have thought? Well, Matt did. What irks me is that they knew this after my 8 week appointment but they never contacted me and failed to tell me at my 12 week, too! I could have been on iron this whole time! I do like the doctor's office though. They are very nice to Maddy. The doctor asked Maddy if she likes silly balloons today and he blew up a plastic glove for her and tied it off for her. She loved it. Also, if she's good she gets to have a lollipop at checkout (she's always good) since they have some sitting there. Well, on the way out today she told me she wanted a yellow one. I said, "Well, we'll have to see if there are any in there." I knew there weren't. But as I rounded the corner I saw the receptionist throw two yellow lollipops into the container! It was very nice of her. Plus, they always see me on time and I'm in and out very quickly. Never a wait! :)

Today we scheduled our 20 week sonogram! So exciting. It's not until the middle of November. I am 16 weeks right now. I have enjoyed using our fetal doppler that I purchased. It's awesome to lay in bed and hear the baby's heartbeat. Pretty cool beans!

Well, other than that, not much else going on today. Maddy's cough seems much better today than yesterday which I'm glad about. Annabelle's birthday party is this weekend and I'd hate to see her miss it! We NEED to go grocery shopping REALLY bad. We are so out of food. Thank goodness tomorrow is Friday otherwise I don't know what Matt would take to lunch with him.

Have a good rest of the week and a good weekend, too!

October 24, 2008

Pet issues.

So two days ago I made a vet appointment for Joe. He has been pooping and peeing outside the litter box again. Plus his urine has been really strong. So I figured something was up. I didn't think it was a UTI since he gets pretty nasty with those.. but I did think maybe kidney failure or a glucose thing due to his diabetes.

So Matt took him in at 8:30 and didn't get home until 11. They immediately attached on to UTI. They got back a test that was negative. It drives me crazy when doctors assume it's a certain diagnosis and doesn't look past what they think it could be. Anyway, Matt recommended them doing EVERYTHING they can do for him so they have all the information they need since taking him in is horrible (he's a horror while there and then reintroducing him to Ruthie is also horrible). So after running some more tests they were going to head out the door when Matt asked if they ran the urine strip test that they were recommending we do at home. No, they haven't. Uhhh..why?

Anyway, they did and when they came back the doctor was bringing food and a spoon! Joe was dangerously low. They were surprised he wasn't passed out due to his glucose level. So anyway, they kept him overnight to get him stabilized. We had been giving him TOO MUCH insulin. He's had too much insulin for WEEKS! He never showed any of the normal overdose signs that we know to look for and the doctors even said that he definitely wasn't acting overdosed. We haven't been doing any glucose testing on him since he hates it and we are actually pretty bad at it so it's been kind of stabbing in the dark. Also, they can't do it at the vet because his stress level is so high it affects his blood level and they would never get a true reading.

Of course, now I feel bad. My poor kitty cat has been on the verge of very bad things for weeks now and we never knew it. So we're going to try even harder now to make sure we keep him level--including the testing at home(which isn't all that expensive compared to the vet bill we'll have when this is said and done.) Oh my Gosh, it's going to be expensive. But, I am the kind of person that if I committed myself to doing to the insulin thing to begin with I want to do it right. So we're going to try again.

I will say though, if we can't get him stabilized, we cannot continue to keep taking him to the vet. We cannot afford these visits much longer. Matt needs new tires for his car very soon, not to mention the other necessities. We simply can't afford to keep running to the vet. So I hope that with home testing we can get him back to baseline and continue on with insulin (at a different level of course) the way we have been. Since, really, the insulin itself isn't that much of a pain in the butt. Plus, we have a brand new bottle we just spent the money on so I don't really not want to use it!

Oh, and they want us to test the urine with urine strips in the litter box. Two issues with that. It's a shared litter box. And second, I can't touch it being pregnant, so Matt would have to do it during the few hours he's home in the morning and before bed at night.

Ahhh.. the things you do for your pet.

One cute thing though--everyone does love his name, Bazooka Joe.

Mommy needed a time out

I realized last night, when I found myself getting crabbier and crabbier at even the cutest things Maddy does that I had been with her straight for 11 days (minus 1 hour). I realized then, I needed a break!! So this morning was my morning to sleep in and after I was up, Matt and Maddy got ready to go out and went out to Lowes and Home Depot. Josh also went along and they were able to switch over the car from the tire place (we have all 4 new tires now) to the place that did our alignment a couple of months ago. It was off and we had a warranty from them so we had them fix it again. While they were gone I planned our menu for this week which is going to be big and all the groceries I would need to go with it. Also, I took a nice LOOOOONG hot shower. Then I sat......in silence...... and sat........ and sat........ You'd think I would be bored, but i wasn't! I did do a little cleaning up, too, but not much.

After they got back I went out to the mall to do some retail therapy. Oooohh...it was so nice. It was great just doing my own thing at my own pace. I went to Sears and picked up two pregnancy shirts on pretty good sale. Then I went to Motherhood where I bought another pregnancy shirt on sale and a pair of maternity jeans. They weren't on sale, but they were cute and they are as of right now the only jeans I own that are pregnancy so I know I'll get a lot of use out of them. I went over to MAC where I had a gift certificate from Matt and bought two new eyeliners--one in bronze and one in black that has a hint of blue to it. They really are pretty. Bought a new Too Faced Palette at Sephora that I found to be even better than the MAC Holiday stuff that also included lips/cheeks for 2/3 the cost. Plus, I love Too Faced. I bought a couple hairbands too, but nothing too special there. I did tell Maddy I'd bring her home a special treat so I bought her a fireman's outfit at Build a Bear Workshop for her teddy bear she chose at Camden's birthday party. I told her it's for Halloween. She seems to like it a lot. I stopped for a pretzel and pina colada smoothie as well. YUM.

It was a nice time out, at my own pace doing what I wanted to do. On the way home I went in and settled up on the car and got the key back. Matt, Maddy and I went back out later to get it and also to buy a new cat litter box. We aren't fond of the one we have for the cats right now so we wanted to replace it. On the way home we stopped at a Chinese Buffet for dinner. It was quite good and they only charged us for Matt and I which I thought was very generous so we gave them a really decent tip.

It was so nice having time alone today--both in the house and outside of it. Doing a bit of fun shopping doesn't hurt either! :)

Ok, off to hang out with Matt. I know he was going to try his hand a virgin Pina Colada for me. I want to see how it turned out!

Have a great week! Tomorrow and Wednesday we have class (we've missed a lot of it) and I have some major cleaning I need to get done, too! Adios!

A couple things.

I finally uploaded WI pictures to our gallery. So go check 'em out if you want to and you aren't a friend of mine on Facebook (they've been on there for a little while now). Sorry it took so long, but I can't upload to our gallery if I'm not on the network away from home so I just never got around to it until now.

Maddy slept horribly last night. She was up at 12:45 once and then awake at 3:30 and was awake until 5:30. Poor kiddo had insomnia. She called every 30 minutes or so... you could tell she was trying to sleep, but just couldn't. Matt woke up with a really bad headache so he's actually home for the day. He's trying to sleep off part of it now and also took some sinus headache (it's been windy and rainy so that's what I think it is). I'm secretly hoping he'll wake up feeling a lot better and we can get a few things done around the house before everyone shows up tomorrow. But we'll see how he's feeling.

Well, that's about it here, this morning. Maddy and I have errands to run today--including grocery shopping! I haven't been full blown grocery shopping since we got back from WI. Matt has stopped at the store on the way home from work a couple of times, but we haven't done a full grocery list. Trust me, I have one now! :)
