I don't get the hype.
Do not get me wrong. It sucks that someone so young dies. He had a little girl and I feel bad that she has lost her daddy. I feel bad for his parents, family and close friends. A living person has died today and that in and of itself makes it sad.
However, I just don't get the hype. The dude was an actor and from what I've read, a good one. But he wasn't a humanitarian. He wasn't a soldier. He wasn't a president or leader of a country. He wasn't a leader for a good cause. He wasn't someone who gave his life to make this world a better place. He was just an actor. I'd like to see headlines like this for when people who give their life to a good cause dies or for nobel peace prize winners. But nope, they get this little 8 pt. font and a little blurb. Because he's popular and he died unexpectedly, he gets all the hype.
I hope that when Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Nancy G. Brinker, Dr. William P. Magee, etc, etc.. die, they get the same headlines that Heath received. Somehow, I don't think they will. I think we need to save our admiration for those that have earned it, not just acted in a good movie or two.
