It's 5 am; do you know where your wife is?

Yes, Matt does. She's laying in bed next to him on his laptop with insomnia. The good news? It's been a while! The bad news? I have it tonight. Ah well.

So here's a few random insomniac thoughts for this 5 am hour:

1. Retail therapy is good. It is VERY good. Now, I'm not saying "The malls latest outfit and trends, perfume and makeup" therapy. I'm saying, the "Kmart at 8 pm after the kid is asleep and I want to get out of the house" therapy. So if you can't guess by now where I was last night at 8 pm, sorry! Funniest thing, I still didn't get three of the things on my list and I think they will wind up being a Walmart or Target run (new full length cheap mirror for the back of our new bathroom door, shelving and showe curtain rubber duck rings). What did I buy at Kmart? New decorative pillows for our bed (I can hear my dad now, NO, NO! NOT PILLOWS!). I four mix matching ones, two ivory and two purple patterned. Two sweatshirts and a onsie with kitties on it for Maddy on sale. A PJ on sale for Maddy. Toys--yes, toys.

2. I love to buy toys, books and art stuff for Maddy. It is my downfall. Last night I bought her two toys: A elmo remote (since she loves her MP123 player), and a shopping cart. I bought a coloring book and went a bit crazy in the stationary department: washable markers, finger paint, squeeze paint, and big pad of paper. Of course, I justified my trip by saying we needed kitchen garbage bags and infant's tylanol. (Oh and I bought a blow up pool for Maddy for summer as well. I know, crazy, but I couldn't find one last summer!)

3. I've realized it's not that I'm necessarily 'done' at 6 pm because of Maddy. It's not that I need daddy to come home and take her over (although that certainly does help). It's that I need the adult interaction! I can do much of what I normally do with Maddy during the day without being worn out as long as I have someone to talk to who uses more than four words at a time. I think my brain is literally mush by that point because I haven't had intelligent conversation (not talking about our phone calls mom) since that morning. Now, Matt is great to me and he does come home and take Maddy over or we share responsibilities.

4. Being on the computer does not help insomnia whether or not I'm still in bed. So I'm off to try to get some more sleep otherwise tomorrow will be a really long day. Goodnight!
