Well, we're in the home stretch to dry wall! Matt worked in the basement ALL DAY today getting the wiring finished up. Then he cleaned up some of the room tonight. Now Maddy is in bed and we're going to finish working on the filing cabinet in the family room. Tomorrow he still needs to cut a hole in the wall leading outside for the fan for the bathroom. We need to sweep up down there (I wish we had a utility vac!) and move his rack 'o computers into the family room so the workers can get in the spare room. After drywall, then comes painting (either Saturday or Monday). Then the tile guy and then plumber and then we're done! Ok, well, not really since I would still need to buy doors, drapes, shade, etc. But we'd be closer than we were.
Maddy and I were out and about a bit today. We went over to Kmart to take back the pillow that didn't quite match our duvet cover. We picked up some stuff there too. They were having a huge 70% off sale on most of their clothes so I bought myself a hoodie, couple shirts for Matt, one for his dad and a bathroom/pj set for my mom. Last time I was there I went through their kid stuff for Maddy so I didn't do that again. I did buy her Easter shoes today and she already has her Easter dress and sweater. It's sooo cute. I believe I already have the tights, too.
After Kmart we went to Lowes to pick up paint chips and I believe we've found the color we want for the room. I also picked up Minwax to match the color of our trim to the filing cabinet that will go in the wall.
When Maddy napped I ran a couple more errands to Best Buy, Ulta (ok, I can't resist Ulta and it's in the same shopping center) and Target. I have realized that I'm either using my old duck shelves or making my own for my rubber ducks in the bathroom. I finally found the shelving I want and it was $15 each and I'd need 4. I don't want to spend that much just to display my rubber duck connection!
It was nice to get out and about today. I kind of needed it. Matt offered to let me get out of the house tonight for coffee night but I am feeling pretty good about how things have gone today so I passed on it.
Poor Matt though. He's been working his tail off in that room 24/7. I feel bad for him, especially now that he has his cold back again. He's achey, exhausted, and stuffy headed.
A few new Maddy things:
Maddy drank out of her own cup without a lid today for the first time. She did GREAT with it. She also really enjoyed it. For the girl who never held her bottle (yes, she never held her bottle--too lazy even though she knew how) I was happy she's doing well with a cup.
She's able to point to body parts now: Head, hair, nose, tummy, feet, mouth.
She follows directions REALLY well, almost all of the most common ones: Sit down, come here, go get..., where's...?, etc.
Our blog, gallery and email will be down most of the day tomorrow due to Matt needing to unplug our rack 'o computers. So don't check in; there won't be anything to look at!
