Another public service announcement.

Yes, again, this is to the people without children. I heard from Matt today that one of his coworkers and his wife are talking about having kids. So they came to my photo gallery because Maddy is cute. (And well, she IS pretty damn cute!) But before I can be blamed for persuading this defenseless couple into 18 years of servitude I thought I'd address the issue once more.

My life is seriously NOTHING like it was when I didn't have Maddy. NOTHING. Now, I did choose to be a stay at home mom and if I continued to work, that aspect of my life would have stayed the same. But, as it is, it is nothing like it was. I don't know how I filled the time in my day before I had a kid. What on earth did I do with all that spare time? I know I slept a lot (don't look forward to that). My priorities have changed quite a bit. I'm not as much a perfectionist as I used to be. I let thing slide a bit more. That said, when I say that my life is nothing like it used to be I'm not saying it's WORSE either. Because, it's not. I'm REALLY HAPPY I have Maddy. I snuggled her tonight for a while on the couch and we giggled together. I had the time of my life. She's such a blessing and such a little person. It's amazing to watch her grow. I will say, there are days where I'm REALLY frustrated by how little I get done, how little she eats, her moods, how little she sleeps, how she keeps bumping her head...etc...etc. There are frustrating days. There are days where I am plain worn out--done. And then she comes to give me a kiss or a hug and I find that I do have a little bit more energy for that last game of chase or that last blow on the belly before bed.

Kids can change your marriage, too. You need to make sure you spend the time carrying for it as much as you would your kid. Spending time with your spouse as your spouse is really important. Start making time for it now, because you'll need to make it a priority later.

Kids can be infuriating, loving, frustrating, caring, eye-rolling, funny, pouty and snuggly all within two minutes. But it's definitely an adventure! It's not one I'd miss for the world.

On a totally different topic: What the heck is with all these people taking their kids out with them when they commit suicide lately?? The dad who killed his daughter by crashing their plane into his ex-inlaws house?! Or the dad who strangled and then dismembered the mom when they had two kids in the house?? Did he not realize that he was taking away their mother and once he was caught, father too?? I realize to even commit murder that these people must not be moral or loving people. But why don't they consider, even for a moment, the impact this will have on their kids? SHEESH!

Ok, off my soap box.

Today didn't quite go as planned. We missed playgroup because I forgot our filing cabinets were being delivered. We did run out to Walmart to pick up a few things we needed. Maddy loved waving to all the kids and the other adults she ran into. Matt was home at 5 tonight and dinner was on the table at 5:03. We had Thai marinated salmon and asparagus stir fry blend over whole grain brown rice. The rice was left over and the rest was really easy--throw it in the skillet, cover and simmer for 15 minutes.

Maddy and I had fun tonight though. Surprisingly, I'm not all that tired even though I've had her all day minus her 1 1/2 hour nap. I'm ready to kind of veg out though--maybe go and read a bit. Tomorrow we have her 15 month check up and tomorrow night is MNO. I'm looking forward to getting out of the house with other moms.

Oh! My mom is coming the end of the month to visit! That will be a lot of fun since it's been 4 months since Maddy has seen her. She may even have a new bedroom to sleep in although I'm sure it won't be completely finished.

Tea of the day: Stash Green Tea, BBW Relax Tea
WO of the day: 20 minutes elliptical (all I could squeeze in) but I did do 8 lb weights and Pilates ab work later in the day.
