I was reading about a friend of mine who works out with young twins and a preschooler at home. I wondered what her day looked like. When she described part of it, I was so impressed with how well she does everything she does. Mine is no where near that impressive, but here goes.
7:30-8am-ish Get up, throw on workout clothes, brush teeth, put in contacts, make the bed, check email, make a cup of tea.
Get Maddy up! Change and get her dressed. Bring her downstairs to the kitchen. Give her a big dose of cherrios. I clean up the kitchen, unload the dishwasher if needed, get Matt's lunch together. Eat a hard boiled egg. Mix up Maddy's breakfast and feed it to her.
9:00 am Finish the kitchen clean up and think about dinner. Defrost whatever is needed. Start the crockpot if I have to, or preplan a bread loaf in the breadmaker. Run a load of laundry. Maddy plays, but lately, whines at my legs for me to hold her. Her teeth hurt. After I do a chore or two, hang out with Maddy in the living room playing or reading.
10 am Maddy will go down for a nap. I switch laundry, get a couple of chores done. I check email. Then I jump on the elliptical machine while I watch two to three Design on a Dime's (I fast tivo it one speed faster. I don't listen to the dialog anyway.) I stretch, do my situps and pushups. Jump in the shower fast.
11:30 am Get Maddy up from her nap, we have lunch together. Whatever that is.
12:00 pm I try to get a couple of chores done while Maddy is refreshed after lunch. Or, we'll go out grocery shopping, for a walk if it's nice or to the mall. Or we just hang out again and she plays. I will often put on Jacks Big Music Show since she loves it so much. I push water and milk in her sippy cup and let her have a couple snacks.
2:00 pm Next nap for Maddy, this is my free time nap. Well, kind of. I still try to get some chores done then too, but it doesn't always work. Go out to get the mail. Make a cup of tea. Do some yoga. I blog sometimes now. I also try to get through one magazine during her afternoon nap because they are piling up on me!!
3:30 pm Maddy gets up and I feed her some dinner. Start making dinner if I need to. Preprep salads if possible.
4:30 pm Maddy is done with me. BORED. So I put on Oobi. She is waiting for Daddy to come home. I try to keep her occupied while I make dinner. Often, I reach for another cup of tea at this time (or chocolate).
6:00 pm Daddy is home! Maddy is in heaven. I get the dinner on the table, we all eat. I clean up dinner while Matt and Maddy play (so much fun to hear them playing and a nice break for me too).
6:30 pm We all hang out in the living room or run out somewhere if we want to.
7:30 pm Bath time for Maddy. Prep for bed, clean up toys, take down gates, close drapes.
8:00 pm Bed time for Maddy. We hope she falls asleep! Then we hang out in the family room and watch TV or I read a magazine while Matt plays XBox. In the end we wind up watching TV together.
11:00 pm Sneak off to bed past Maddy's room trying to be quiet. Crawl into bed and hope not to wake her.

OK, I officially hate you and your life. 15 hours she sleeps!! Ben sleeps from 9pm - 6am. That's all I get!! If I want time to myself, I stay up late at night but lose sleep! While he is in PS I have been trying to catch up on what has been on hold for the past 4 years. But now exercising for 45 minutes and showering is all I have time for in between coming home from dropping him off and having to go back and get him.

You know, I was a great sleeper too when I was little. I had no issues with sleep at night and naps. Maddy fights going to sleep almost every night now. She fusses and cries for at least a 1/2 hour. She's been waking up middle of the night a couple of times too, lately (because of teething, I think). But I am really lucky she sleeps as well as she does.
Try to think about exercising as less of a chore and more as 'your time' for yourself. When you start to enjoy it, it really does become your time! :)
