Insomnia...

The last three nights I've woken up at about 4:00 wide awake. I can't figure it out. I'm up all day chasing after Maddy, doing house stuff. I'm tired at the end of the day when I go to bed. I fall asleep really well. I'm not stressed about anything. I don't have a lot on my mind that I'm planning for or are thinking about. Yet, at 4:00 there I am, laying there wide awake.

Then I never know what to do. Get up? Lay there and hope I fall back asleep? Move to the couch, maybe thc change in venue will help? I find that if I get up like I did tonight I stay awake long but am less frustrated with the inability to sleep. But if I lay there for a while I MAY fall back asleep. But I hate to wake up Matt with my tossing and turning. I know he sleeps worse when I'm awake.

It's not that Matt wakes me up either. He doesn't snore, move around a lot or is on my side. I don't have issues with being hot or cold. It's dark and quiet--there should be no reason I am waking up!

Then, the next question is, How does Ruthie (my cat) always know I'm awake? Never fails that as soon as I wake up she's jumping up purring wanting to be petted. And of course, because Ruthie is up then Joe gets up (my other cat). He can get pretty ticked off if he gets woken up and tries to rummage through the garbage cans looking for plastic to eat.

Ah well, I better try to get back to asleep! It's 5:10!

It's fortunate that when I DO fall back asleep, i sleep hard and well. So here's to trying it again! Goodnight, all.

Holly:

Maybe it's the cat waking you up and you don't know it?

My cat used to come and sneak into bed and lick my eyelids. Then he'd jump down. I'd wake up and he'd jump back up to be pet. :) Since cats are up at night, they think you should be too. :)

Good luck with the sleep.

Becky:

Holly, your cat used to lick your eyelids?! That had to have been slightly disturbing and scary. I think I'd shoot through the roof if Joe or Ruthie did that to me!

It COULD be Ruthie though, you are right about that!
