Thoughts on tea (from the teaholic)

So, obviously by now you figured out that I must love tea. Almost all kinds, you name it, I like it. I'd pick tea over coffee any day although will have a random cup of Joe here and there. I drink my tea plain, no added sugar, creamer, lemon or honey. My favorite brand is Adagio (www.adagio.com). They make FABULOUS flavored black tea. Their rooibos is good too (red tea--herbal. full of antioxidants). Their green tea is pretty good (slight caffeine, antioxidants). I haven't tried their white tea yet (very little caffeine, antioxidants).

I think my favorite tea is either black or rooibos. Green and white can be bitter if not made correctly or drank in a timely manner. With a ten month old, of course, I can't guarentee the last part. Black tea can get a bit bitter when left steeping for a long time, but the flavor, to me only gets better. Rooibos is a very mellow, warm, almost creamy flavor. When it is flavored with mango or vanilla it's really nice. No matter how long it steeps, it doesn't get bitter or too strong.

I also love Adagio's Ingenuitea steeper cup. You pour the loose tea and water into the cup and let it steep for the alloted time. Then it has a filter on the bottom and when you put it over your cup it it strains the leaves from the water. It's REALLY quick and easy. It's microwaveable and dishwasher safe. I microwave mine every day. I try not to dishwash it too often cause it is just plastic. Once every couple of days. Then I just rinse out the leaves and cup the rest of the time.

I do have some really nice teaware. I have a really nice tea set, spoons, tea cups, strainers, etc...but I don't use them very often. Normally, it's just the ingenuitea and a plain 'ol mug. Afterall, it's the tea that counts!

My favorite part of tea is that I like it hot or cold. I don't care if it gets cool so long as the leaves still aren't steeping. To me, it's just as good that way as it is hot. With Maddy around, I'm lucky if I finish a cup of tea when it's still hot. So I'm glad I like it cold too!

I only drink maybe 2-3 cups of tea in the day. My first one is always caffeinated and the rest are normally low caffeine or herbal. Some days I just have my one cup in the morning. I used to have a TON of tea. I overbought and had containers and containers full. Now, I've used up most of it and have bought very little new tea on purpose. I'd like to use up what I have first. I still have at least 5 boxes of Stash Green Chai Tea on hand since I have a hard time finding it, a couple other flavored boxes, a couple of herbal boxes dating back from when i was pregnant with Maddy and my Adagio tins. I also have some tea from Matt when he went to London. So, I'm still good on tea for quite a while, I believe! I don't think I'll need to buy any for at least six months!

Anyway, I thought I really should talk a little bit about tea since my webpage's name, address, email etc...are all dedicated to it. If you aren't a tea fan this probably bore you to death and didn't make it through it. However, if you like tea, maybe you actually enjoyed it!
